  • Upcoming Events
    No Thursday Notes the weeks of June 11th and June 18th.

    Gr. 3 & 4 field trip to Pequot Museum on June 14th.
    Gr. K and PreK field trips to Montshire Museum on June 14th.

    Field Days and School Club Picnic on Monday, June 18th.  Students should bring extra clothes with them.  We will have water games during field days.

    Sixth Grade Graduation is scheduled for Monday, June 18th at 6pm.

    Last day of school is Wednesday, June 20th.  It will be a half day.


    Reminder that if you hope to be a volunteer for an end of the year field trip then make sure you have completed the paperwork for background checks and have had your fingerprinting done.  If you have not gone through this process you will be unable to volunteer/chaperone.  You are not even allowed to transport just your child.  Please see Heidi for the paperwork to start this process immediately if you are interested.  It takes approximately 8 weeks to get fingerprint results back.



    Reminder:  In case of bad weather, we will be using an automated calling system to let families know that school is canceled.  Please make sure we have your current phone number for this telephone call.  However, if your phone is not working or if you haven’t received a phone call but are unsure whether there is school, the following local radio stations also carry school cancellations:  WYRY, WKVT, WTSA, WKNE.  There is no guarantee that any television stations will carry the cancellation information.

Our historic school house is the oldest, continuously functioning school in Vermont.  In 1989, an addition was built, which added six classrooms, a multipurpose room with stage, library/media center and kitchen.  Our dedicated veteran teachers work collaboratively to create a vibrant school community.  Visit our classroom web pages to see the exciting work our students are doing!

Vision: The Townshend Elementary School learning environment is exciting because it both challenges and nurtures every student, while celebrating individuality, creativity and the concept of excellence.

Mission: Each student will experience the fulfillment of mastery in reading, writing and mathematics. Their educational experiences will make them believe in themselves as learners. Their ability to express themselves creatively will be nurtured through the arts. Their experiences at Townshend Elementary School will enhance their growth as a whole child.
